Jennifer Lopez has made it clear that her next partner must fully accept her for who she is.
The 56-year-old superstar, who finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck, 53, in January 2025 after two years of marriage, opened up about her outlook on love during a recent performance at her Up All Night Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
While singing her 1999 hit If You Had My Love, Lopez reflected on how her relationship with the song—and with herself—has evolved over the years.
“When I first sang it, I was very young. I was like a little baby in the woods, singing it with so much hope,” she told the audience. “I’ve sung it when I was sad, and I’ve sung it when I was happy.”
“But today, I sing it in power,” she continued. “Because the truth is, if you want my love, you have to earn it. You have to treat me right. You have to respect me.”
The moment was met with loud applause, as fans praised Lopez for embracing strength, self-worth, and independence in this new chapter of her life.
“You’d have to accept me for all that I am. You’d have to love me if you wanted my love,” Lopez told the crowd, drawing cheers from fans.
The On The Floor hitmaker—who has been married four times—spoke candidly about the realities of love, acknowledging both its beauty and its pain.
“Love is a complicated thing, and I know that,” she said. “You can’t have love without heartbreak. You just can’t. That’s what you sign up for.”
Lopez also lightened the mood by joking about her past marriage to Ben Affleck during opening night of her Las Vegas residency, showing she’s able to reflect on the experience with humor and confidence.
The candid moments offered fans a rare glimpse into Lopez’s emotional growth, as she continues to embrace strength, honesty, and self-acceptance in this new phase of her life.
The Dancing Again singer also reflected on her 2016 residency, Jennifer Lopez: All I Have, noting just how quickly time has passed.
“It’s been 10 years since my last residency,” she told the crowd. “That went by in a blink.”
Lopez then poked fun at her personal life, joking, “And I’ve only been married twice since then. That’s not true! It was only once—felt like twice. I’m kidding.”
Laughing, she added that “things happen,” before playfully kicking out her leg and quipping, “and then you get rid of them.”
Lopez and Affleck first became engaged in the early 2000s but called it off in 2004. The pair later rekindled their romance in 2021, delighting fans with their highly publicized reunion.
They married in July 2022, followed by a second wedding ceremony in Georgia. However, Lopez filed for divorce two years later, listing April 26, 2024, as the date of their separation.
Despite the personal changes, Lopez continues to command the stage. An additional eight shows of Jennifer Lopez: Up All Night Live in Las Vegas are scheduled for March 2026.
